Luck was on my side when I won a meet and greet opportunity with Evanescence before their concert at the Palladium. Not only is Evanescence my favorite band in the world, but their front-woman, Amy Lee, is a huge beauty inspiration for me. With the chance to come face to face with my beauty inspiration, what should I possibly do for a look?
I am not the only person out there who looks to Amy Lee for makeup inspiration. If you google “Amy Lee makeup” you will come across tons of links to images, videos, and how-to tutorials for Amy Lee inspired looks. The debate began. Should I replicate a look from a music video or a photo shoot?
With limited time between work and heading off to the meet & greet, I decided to just let the band’s music inspire me. The tunes were cranking, the outfit was picked out, the makeup stash was spread out across the countertop, and I selected the following elements:
- Kat Von D High Voltage Eye Primer – Skin
- Sephora – Hit the Road eyeshadow
- Kat Von D True Romance Pigment – Ladyhawk
- MAC Crushed Metallic Pigment – Summer Stash
- NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil – Black Bean
- Make Up Forever Aqua Eyes Eyeliner – 8L
- Make Up Forever Smoky Lash Mascara – Black
For the look, I applied KVD primer on the entire eye, Sephora’s Hit the Road across the upper lid, KVD Ladyhawk in the crease and the light pink champage shade from MAC’s Summer Stash under the brow. While blending the shadows, I added a little light white pearl from MAC’s Summer Stash across the entire eye to add a bit of sparkle and shine. To finish the look, add Make Up Forever on the upper lid, NYX on the waterline under the eye and mascara on the lashes.
I haven’t done this look before and was extremely pleased with the end result.
Meeting the band was awesome. I got to sit through sound check, get some autographs and joke around with the band. Even with all their fame/celebrity, Evanescence has to be the most down to earth band out there and they truely appreciate their fans. And yes, Amy Lee is as gorgeous and friendly in person “as seen on tv.”
